MANILA, Philippines - Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) had been named
among the finalists in the upcoming Mobile Money Global Awards. The
country's leading wireless services provider is the only Philippine
telecommunications company to make it to the elite list.
Smart's mobile commerce offering, Smart Money, was shortlisted in two
Mobile Money Transfer (MMT) categories – the Best Operator-led MMT
Program, which is given to the MMT model with exceptional subscription
and usage rates, customer reach and ease of service; and the Best
Bank-led MMT Program, which recognizes the outstanding mobile money
transfer model with a banks' market entry strategy.
Smart Money has established linkages with the leading banks of the
Philippines, the country's primary ATM consortia, local and
international remittance companies, and millions of MasterCard partners
here and abroad.
The platform allows account holders to perform mobile money transfers,
pay bills, purchase goods and services from partner MasterCard
establishments around the world and on the worldwide web, to do
over-the-counter transactions at Smart Wireless Centers and Smart Money
Centers, and to withdraw from over 7,000 ATMS all over the Philippines.
There are currently over 8.5 million registered users of Smart Money.
Likewise, Smart Load and Financial Services head Jojo M. Malolos has
also been included in the pool of speakers in the Mobile Money Global
Summit and Expo to be held in Dubai next month.
Aside from Best Operator-led MMT Program and Best Bank-led MMT Program,
other categories include Best Mobile Money Launch of the Year,
Achievement in Financial Inclusion, Best Mobile Money Joint Venture
between a Bank and an Operator, Most Inventive Marketing Campaign, and
Best International Mobile Money Transfer Program.
Now on its 2nd year, the Mobile Money Global Awards recognizes mobile
money pioneers, practitioners, and stakeholders who have made
significant contributions to the growth of the mobile money industry.
